Event Privacy Controls

As an event host, you have full control over the privacy settings of your event. These settings can be managed through the Security tile on the Event Details page in your Host Dashboard.

Public vs. Private Events

You have two main options for controlling access to your event:
  1. Public Events: The event page is accessible to anyone with the link or QR code.
  2. Private Events: Access is restricted and requires additional authentication.
Even for public events, certain sensitive information and features may still require guest authentication.

PIN Code Protection

For enhanced security, you can enable PIN code protection for your event. How it works:
  • When enabled, a PIN code is required to access the event page and use PixVow features.
  • Guests who are logged in with a PixVow account and associated with the event are automatically authenticated and don’t need to enter the PIN.
  • All other visitors, including those with the link or QR code, will be prompted to enter the PIN before accessing the event page or using features like PixQR for media uploads.
To enable PIN code protection:
  1. Go to your Host Dashboard
  2. Navigate to the Event Details page
  3. Find the Security tile
  4. Enable the “Require PIN code” option
  5. Set your desired PIN code
Remember to communicate the PIN code securely to your intended guests. Do not share it publicly.

Feature-Specific Security

Our security measures extend to all PixVow features. For example:
  • PixQR: When PIN protection is enabled, guests must enter the PIN before uploading media using PixQR.
  • PixRespond: RSVP data is encrypted and only accessible to authenticated users.
  • PixWish: Gift registry information is protected and only shared with authenticated guests.

Your Role in Security

While we provide robust security features, you play a crucial role in maintaining the privacy and security of your event:
  1. Use strong, unique passwords for your PixVow account
  2. Be cautious about sharing event links and PIN codes
  3. Regularly review your event’s guest list and remove any unauthorized access
  4. Keep your event’s privacy settings up-to-date
